Today marks the 20th World AIDS Day, and with it comes mixed emotions of excitement for the recent advances in HIV/AIDS research coupled with sorrow for loved ones lost.
It is on this day that we recognize the hard-hitting statistics of a disease that has taken the lives of many…
It is on this day that we recognize the amazing work of medical researchers who get closer to a cure with each passing day…
And it is on this day that we must come together and do what we can to combat this terrible disease.
As of about 3 weeks ago, I decided to lead efforts through Greater DC Cares as a project coordinator with the HIV Working Group. It’s been a truly rewarding experience. I’ve met so many amazing people who have shared their stories of friends who have passed because of HIV/AIDS, and it is those stories that are a constant reminder that we’ve come a long way, but we’ve still got a long way to go.
On this day, please do what you can to educate and disseminate.

- Action Tips: Play a Part in the Search for an HIV Vaccine
- World school task - Myrthe, Nelleke and Anouk
